What Is the Future of MySpace?

I don’t know about you, but I hardly hear about MySpace anymore, unless a band is promoting their page. More and more people are sharing in the addiction of Facebook, so where does that leave MySpace for the future?

Most recently, the co-president of MySpace, Jason Hirschhorn, was interviewed to find out more about his views on the future of MySpace. He overall felt that MySpace lacked focus, which is what the heads of MySpace are hoping to create with new products and a different user interface so that the site becomes more attractive.

The copresident of MySpace hopes that the site in the future will offer a platform for people to be able to create and build based on their talents. One of the big changes that MySpace is making in the future is integrating new ideas in user testing and product rollouts so that they can better understand their MySpace user behavior.

Most importantly, the theme of MySpace focuses on music, photos, video, and the artistic approach that every person takes in their own page. This is also the focus that the heads of MySpace are taking as they move into the future.

In addition, the copresident of MySpace also envisions it to be both a social network and a content destination so that each user has their own voice. The bigwigs do agree that MySpace may have lost its way in the past several years, but they are trying to redirect it back to its original intention.

MySpace is a social environment, but it also focuses on the unique talents of each user as they connect within the MySpace community. Even more so, MySpace focuses on pop culture topics, especially since its main demographic of users is 14 to 34-year-olds.

So how will MySpace affect social media in the future? Are you still even using MySpace, or have you jumped ship to Facebook? Your thoughts, please…

  1. You don’t hear about MySpace anymore because buzz is almost never about size; it’s about movement. So even when Twitter was small, that’s all you would hear about as it grew. If MySpace grows again, we’ll all be hearing more than we want to. Personally, being accosted by music when I stumble onto a MySpace page pretty much removes the interest value for me.

  2. Myspace is still The place to be for musicians and The way you can discover new bands !
So I didn’t give it up, because I am still curious about musics.
Actually you don’t share the informations on Facebook.
More than that I now know Myspace and how to find there where I am looking for.

  3. I liked myspace much more than facebook, but you go where the people are. I deleted my myspace about a year ago and I haven’t looked back. Not because I didn’t like it, but because I suffer from social overload.

  4. Yeah. I also choose not login to my myspace account for quite sometime about two years. I don’t know why but previous week I logged in to my account previous week. I haven’t found much spam request I used to get previously. I can see they have changed some of the user interface and got a professional look. But I still believe they have to improve a lot to compete with other social Network Giants like facebook, Twitter.
