Twitter Meme Tracker in a Tag Cloud
RetweetRadar is a new tool that represents most “retweeted” terms in the form of a tag cloud.
For those who don’t know:
- Twitter is a micro-blogging tool allowing its members to post 140-char-long updates and follow other users’ short posts;
- “To retweet” means to re-post someone other’s message and thus help spread the word (also crediting the original author). “Retweets” can thus be an equivalent to a blog meme (= an idea that is spread throughout several blogs and turns into the buzz).
RetweetRadar = google app engine + twitter + yahoo term extractor + jquery.
Citing the creator the tool is meant to:
…to extract meaning from a large-ish set of social media messages in near real time and visually trend it over time, showing topics heating up in conversations even while still slightly off the conventional news radar.
