Facebook’s Founder Mark Zuckerberg to Donate to Charity

Mark Zuckerberg has decided to loosen his purse strings and donate a portion of his fortune to charity. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder,  has a conscience and is giving back. He says,

” people wait until late in their career to give back. But why wait when there is so much to be done?”

As a result Mark has given his approval for becoming part of the Giving Pledge, set up by Microsoft heavyweight Bill Gates.

Mark Zuckerberg is worth an estimated $6.9 billion and is considered one of the wealthiest Americans alive. He, along with other billionaires like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have committed to the Giving Pledge. The purpose of the Giving Pledge is to encourage to multi-millionaires and billionaires a share their fortunes.

Other people that have been asked to donate are billionaires Carl Icahn, Ted Forstmann, and Dustin Moskovitz, Mark Zuckerberg’s former roommate from Harvard. To gain access to the Giving Pledge individuals agree to donate the bulk of their riches to charity.

Facebook founder has already donated $100 million to Newark public schools. This was announced in September on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

It has been a proven fact that when people know that they are not the only ones giving, they are more likely to share their wealth. Whether it is dropping a few coins into the Salvation Army kettle outside the department store or part of the billion dollar Giving Pledge, knowing others are donating will spur on others to donate as well.

  1. Even if they will donate millions of dollars, it wouldn’t matter because they are actually earning billions of it! So why don’t they just give something to the less fortunate to help them build a decent life. Much better, why don’t they just give people work or business so they can get enough money for their daily needs.

  2. 2. Thanks for sharing the information with us. But you know you could be a little more descriptive. You have written about online fundraising but it missed some vital points. There are many sites offering people to Donate to charity, but donating for the right cause is important. Help a cause, Help people
